This is the Regent, a former theatre in Deal on the Kent coast.

I’ve taken the building out of its original surroundings and relocated it to an imagined Renaissance landscape, placing it on the edge of a precipice.

I liked the idea that theatres are places designed to transport us into other worlds, so in this instance I’ve transported the theatre itself.

I feel that placing it on the precipice adds a theatrical element to the composition, giving the building a sense of drama that reflects its original purpose.
