Jen Orpin graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1996 with a degree in Fine Art. She lives in Manchester.

Jen Orpin has a deep rooted love of roads and bridges – she says “I have had so many conversations about childhood memories and nostalgic feelings attached to a special bit of road or a bridge they used to go under, telling them they were close to home or a loved one, this is why I paint them.”

She works with oils on canvas and paints small but detailed works conveying motorway bridges that many of us instantly recognise. A testament to how these seemingly anodyne structures actually resonate more deeply with our memories than we may imagine.
