I have produced two images based on the dramatic histories of the Goodwin Sands. The Goodwin Sands are the final resting place of hundreds of vessels and occasionally anonymous parts of their wrecks wash out on the Kent coast.
The composition of “Cannon Balls“ is based on three iron cannon balls. The two larger ones, found on Sandwich Bay, may date from the early 19th century. The floral arrangement is based on the pared down colour range of the Quicksand rose and inspired by Baroque Flemish still life paintings.
