New Arrivals - August

New to the gallery this August is a selection of the latest paintings by Pascal Ungerer, a new moon by Richard Taylor-Jones, a statement painting by Susannah Preston, a sparkly treat by Loren Beven and a rare opportunity to acquire an original Leigh Mulley painting.

They are available to view on our website. Like all our artworks, they are best seen in real life, so do visit us in the gallery to have a look. We’re open Monday to Saturday throughout the month of August.

Pink Wood by Pascal Ungerer, oil on canvas, 40 x 40cm, £1500

Ungerer’s new oil paintings are in his distinctive style - anonymous buildings in isolated landscapes. The unease of the unfamiliar is tempered by his alluring use of colour and the seductiveness of the glossy finished edge. It is the polished mystery of these imaginary landmarks that make Ungerer’s paintings so inviting and allowing them to linger at the periphery of your imagination.

Strawberry Moon by Richard Taylor-Jones, limited edition photograph, from £1500

Richard Taylor-Jones is on a mission to photograph a full moon each month and his latest moon, this June’s Strawberry moon, is now gracing the gallery window. Capturing the full moon as it’s rising sounds straightforward enough, however, factor in our unpredictable British weather with its clouds and rain and it becomes a whole lot more complicated. He started the project six years ago and has only managed to produce four moons to date.

Low Tide by Susannah Preston, oil on canvas, 100 x 100cm, £3000

Susannah Preston’s dynamic mark making with her idiosyncratic interpretation of our Kentish coastal landscapes come together to dramatically capture the cliffs in her newest painting, ‘Low Tide’.  Preston is known for her huge paintings of the cliffs and countryside. We know there are people who have their eye out for something a little smaller so this is just the right size for a home still in need of a statement piece.

Cornetto by Loren Beven, Limited edition hand glittered print, 50 x 70cm, £375

‘Cornetto’ is the latest addition to Loren Beven’s collection of bold, hand-embellished prints. The sparkle finish delightfully captures the the chill of a well loved treat and evokes a sense of wistful nostalgia for the simple pleasures in life. Add this to your collection of her ice cream prints, or treat yourself to your very first one.

Dinghies II by Leigh Mulley, oil on canvas, 80 x 110cm, £6,500

A Leigh Mulley original oil painting has come on to the market for resale through us.

Mulley’s work captures the spirit and language of classic seaside resort living. Utilising bold colour and arresting detail, she reveals a beauty in the deteriorating and brash elements of amusement arcades, funfairs and souvenir shops – harnessing an often nostalgic or romantic view of the neglected and tired. Although appearing playful, her compositions also provide a commentary on notions of social class and cultural influence.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original painting by an extraordinary photorealist artist.
