London / New York / Deal - Introducing Marc Gooderham
Taylor-Jones & Son are delighted to invite you to the launch of Marc Gooderham's new show at 6pm on Saturday 25th October
Gooderham is fascinated with the urban environment and its many atmospheres. He is not concerned about its grandeur or significance, more how a scene asks questions of who lived there, what are its stories, what are its secrets. This often draws him to the quieter corners of a town or city, at times when the world is shutting down or only just waking up. His approach means he is attracted to both the local and the international. His works span both worlds, he is an international local painter.
A member of the East London Group of artists and a member of The Society of Graphic Fine Art which was founded in 1919. He has exhibited in galleries across London and this year being selected for the Pastel Society Annual Group Exhibition at The Mall Gallery. We are delighted to bring him to Deal.

Gooderham says of Deal,
"When I first visited Deal, I was immediately struck by the atmospheric streets that run parallel with its seafront.
Mysterious doorways, hidden windows, and narrow passageways, all longing to be explored.
At night, the roads appear eerily quiet, yet full of warmth and ambience. Street corners are lit to dramatic effect giving the landscape an almost cinematic feel. Every corner I turned offered a potential composition. It was this vision of Deal I set out to paint.
The discovery of a new town is an exciting part of the process. Before the concept of a drawing or painting even exists. It's about capturing the soul of a place. Not just painting the buildings; but digging deeper to find that uniqueness within."

We think Gooderham's work is a perfect fit for the gallery and we know our clients love to be local and international too. He fills the space in our artist rosta documenting the urban environment, that we have been looking to fill for quite some time.
We hope you can join us for the Private View to see 12 original works on Saturday 25th October at 6pm.
