Turkish Lilac marble
35 x 100 x 25cm
Carved from a distinctive block of Turkish Lilac Marble, ‘Aeolus’ takes the form of a boat-like vessel with its sails turned, catching the prevailing winds. The title references Greek mythology - Aeolus was the divine keeper, king of the winds and ruler of the mythical, floating island, Aeolia. He kept the storm winds locked safely away inside the cavernous interior of the island, releasing them only at the command of the greatest gods.
