"David wasn’t a fan of air travel. When he was young, he had a premonition that if he travelled by plane, he would fall to earth in a great ball of fire. He used the slow pace of land and sea travel as an chance to read, think, and develop songs. At the end of the Japanese leg of his Ziggy Stardust tour, we went home on the Trans-Siberian Express. We took pictures of each other on the train."
