Deirdre Kashdan is an established printmaker and mixed-media artist, living and working in Deal, Kent.
Intensely physical in execution, her images combine different mediums and processes, all of which celebrate the artist's touch. Always personal in subject matter, she externalises aspects of the psyche. Her images are derived from fragments of place, memory, experience and imagination.
Processes include etching, monoprint, drypoint and chine colle, which she layers and combines in different ways to produce unique images within each small, limited edition.
Kashdan describes each piece as experimental, open to accident whilst subject to her influence.
Created during lockdown, her ‘Missing You’ series has a particular poignancy.
Kashdan holds a BA Hons in Fine Art from the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury, which she obtained in 2002.
She is a member of the Printmakers Council, and her work is in private collections in the UK, France, Italy and the USA.
